March on Hartwell Report
The South Carolina Bass Anglers Invitation Trail (SC-BAIT) had its second Lake Hartwell tournament of the season on March 8, 2008. 17 boats braved gale-force winds and snow to fish.
At the put-in 3 1/2 foot swells were washing over the docks and marina, but with a quick vote the die-hard anglers chose not to reschedule and to go ahead and fish.
Gary Rogers, one of the tournament directors reported that first, second and third place were all very close and the winning team was Crider and Harrison with 16.5 pounds. Second place was the team of Fowler and Fowler with 15.7 pounds, and in third place Aiken and Rohaley also had over 15 pounds.

Gary reported that the winning anglers were playing their cards close to their chest and would only divulge that their successful pattern involved fishing "a moving bait". The big fish of the tournament was just over 5 pounds.
SC-BAIT's next tournament will be on April 26 on Lake Keowee (Gap Hill Landing), and the end of season Wild Card event will be held on Lake Jocassee May 17. Congratulations to the winners, and here's to better weather for the rest of the season!

Charles Murphy, right, and Bobby Rhodes, both of Hendersonville, N.C., show off nearly 29 pounds of bass boated Friday in a Fish The Fall Team Tournament on Lake Keowee. The catch is believed to be the Second largest single-day tournament catch on the lake since it was impounded in 1971.
